Transition to Dufrocq
Keep up with what is happening as South Boulevard FLAIM prepares to make plans for the future.
Transition Issues and Concerns
March 2009 - The team is working on educating our School Board members through positive dialogue and meetings. We are also planning for our workshop to be hosted by the EBR School Board.
May 2009 - At the May 21st School Board meeting, the EBR Parish School Board voted to leave the FLAIM program at the South Blvd location. This is a short term victory that will ensure the FLAIM program operates in a setting that maximizes the immersion environment. But the South Blvd facility has not been maintained in a manner that will allow long term occupation. Nor is the facility large enough to allow the FLAIM program to expand beyond its current size of 1 French class and 1 Spanish class per grade level. So, a long term solution must still be found. The PTO remains committed to working with the School Administration at the Central Office, the School Board and the community to rebuild, relocate or renovate a facility for the FLAIM program.
